On November 27, 2025, the Chinese Consulate General in Karachi held a handover ceremony for the solar street lights donated to Karachi City. Consul General of China in Karachi Mr. Yang Yundong, Mayor of Karachi Mr. Murtaza Wahab, representatives from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and the construction company attended the event. The project, initiated and implemented by the Consulate General, involved the installation of 58 sets of solar street lighting equipment in the city's Clifton area.
Consul General Yang Yundong stated that the ironclad friendship between China and Pakistan is enduring, and the benefits of China-Pakistan cooperation extend to all people in Pakistan. This donation project aims to support the socio-economic development of Karachi and is a vivid manifestation of the all-weather friendship between the two countries. China is ready to strengthen communication and collaboration with Karachi City to continue implementing "small yet smart" livelihood programs that enhance the welfare of the local population.

Mayor Wahab expressed his gratitude for the Chinese donation, stating that the equipment facilitates night-time travel for local residents and has been widely appreciated. He affirmed that Karachi City will continue to deepen practical cooperation with China across various fields and actively contribute to advancing the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the cause of Pakistan-China friendship.
